Facts about the Premier League

The 2013/14 Premier League has begun and all at Frank Wright HQ couldn’t be happier. We thought this week’s blog post should play tribute to one of our favourite sports by sharing some interesting facts about the English Premier League:

1: Ryan Giggs has scored in every season of the Premier League.

2: During the season 2005-2006, Cristiano Ronaldo scored the thousandth goal, for the team Manchester United.

3: West Ham were the only team in the 2012-13 season that didn’t win 2 consecutive games at all throughout the season.

4: The average player in the Premier League earns around 30 times the pay of the average League Two player.

5: An English Manager has yet to win the Premier League.

6: During the 2012/13 season; Leighton Baines was the only outfield player to be on the pitch for every minute of every game.

7: Manchester United had 20 different goal scorers during the 2012/13 season – more than any team in the history of the Premier League.

8: The total number of goals scored in the 2012/13 season was 1,063.

9: 47 own goals were scored in the 2012/13 season – this is more than any other season of the Premier League.

10. The first ever Premier League goal was scored by Brian Deane for Sheffield United Vs Manchester United in the 5th minute.

11: Alan Shearer is the Barclays Premier Leagues record goal scorer with a massive 260 goals.

12: The top goal scorer for the 2012/13 season was Robin Van Persie, scoring a total of 26 goals for Manchester United

13: Only 5 teams have won the Premier League: Blackburn, Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and ManchesterCity.

14: Alex Ferguson has won 13 Premier League titles.
